Just announced – Aussie Comedy Legend, George Smilovici to MC new blues festival.
As the only Australian comedian to knock Stevie Wonder off the No.1 position of the Top 40 Music Charts, with his “I’m so tuff” routine, George Smilovici is coming to the Central Coast to host the very first Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ.
George is an original, a pioneer in Australian Stand Up Comedy. He was there at the beginning of the 80s and took standup to Rock audiences.
He’s performed in every arena from the Sydney Entertainment Centre to sports stadiums, theatres and concert halls, in festivals, intimate clubs, TV, Film and Radio. He has shared the stage with greats like Joe Cocker, Talking Heads, Neil Sedaka, Midnight Oil, INXS, Fleetwood Mac, Michael Winslow, Joan Rivers and many more. And performed all over the world including NZ, USA, Britain, New Guinea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Hawaii.
But who could forget him as the face of the AWARD winning “I’m Cool” Brut Faberge, TV commercials.
“I am over the moon about being asked and able to MC this new and exciting festival of Blues. ” Say’s George, “Not only will our audience experience an incredible national and international lineup of artists and Bands but they’ll also get me, Australia’s most genuinely funny and outspoken proponent of the comic arts. George’s Announcement coincides with the limited release of Early Bird Tickets for the day’s event.
With the official opening starting at 11am and going through to 7.30pm in the “daylight savings time” evening, ticket prices will include an International Band from the USA, plus another 11 National and Local Australian Blues and Roots Artists, AND the comedic legend, George Smilovici. (All bands will be announced in November 2015).
Patrons will also be able to feast on Texan slow cooked BBQ, and other soul food stalls, immerse themselves in Aboriginal Culture, and view the talents of our local arts community.
All set among the surrounds of the Gardens of the Mt Penang Parklands.
