VOLUNTEERING FOR GIRRAKOOL BLUES FESTIVAL & BBQ
We are now accepting new volunteer applications for the 2018 Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ. After reading the following information carefully, proceed to the online volunteer application via the link at the bottom of this page. Thanks for your interest, volunteers are the BEST!
We are in full swing preparing for Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ 2018. Part of what makes all of our festival magical are the folks that volunteer to help us out. Each volunteer contributes their time and energy during the festival in exchange for a 3-day festival pass.
Remember, volunteers represent Planet Girrakool to thousands of festivarians. If the thought of remaining sober during your shifts bums you out, volunteering is not for you. If greeting and helping festivarians does seem like something you want to do, then volunteering is for you. We want friendly, fun loving Girrakoolians only, thank you!
2018 Volunteering Specifics
Please read the volunteer Terms and Conditions thoroughly and fill out the application in its entirety. Please note: Volunteers are placed on a first-come, first-served basis.
As the festival site is licensed and bound by the Liquor Act all volunteers need to be over 18 years.
Only volunteers who can commit to all three days of the festival will be considered. You will be assigned two 4 hour shifts, that may include a morning, afternoon, and night shift, in exchange for a 3-day pass.
There are a few positions on the week leading up to the festival and the week after.
You will need to fill out an application form.
If you have already purchased your ticket, and cannot find someone to take the ticket:
◦ We will refund you your festival ticket. (please fill out the appropriate order information on the application).
◦ You will be required to turn in your ticketing information to email@example.com in order to receive your refund.
What Happens Next?
Once you submit your application, you will automatically receive an email letting you know we received your application. It does not mean you have been accepted.
If you are accepted as a volunteer you will receive 4 emails.
1. A confirmation that we have received your application.
2. An acceptance email
3. Your location and schedule email (approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the festival)
4. A reminder email.
If you have not heard from us by late February and you are still interested in volunteering, there may be last-minute positions. If at any time prior to your acceptance you decide you are unable to volunteer, please let us know by email and we will cancel your application.

How does volunteering work?
You will be required to work 2 x 4 hour shifts in exchange for a 3-day festival pass.
What if I already bought a ticket?
You will be refunded for the festival portion of the ticket. You will need to fill out your order information on the application or send email@example.com your order information to secure your refund.
Is camping included?
Camping is NOT included, and so you will need to purchase camping tickets at www.girrakoolblues.com.au/buytickets
Can my children accompany me while I’m volunteering?
We need your full attention during your scheduled volunteer shifts. So no, children may not accompany you during your volunteer shifts. They are welcome at the festival and in the campgrounds.
What if I must work with my friend?
There is a section on the application where you can put the person(s) name.
If assigned to the box office, you will meet and greet patons, exchange tickets for wristbands, sell festival tickets, help direct, and answer questions. We are looking for organized and friendly folks who are willing to help out in a fast-paced environment.There are 2 selling points this year, the Main Entrance, and the Back Camping Entrance/Site Office.
Artist / Vip Management
This position will include greeting Artists and Vips at the Artist/VIP Entry, hand out artist packs, assist with directions, and acquire help for Artists Equipment if necessary.
Bar / RSA
There will be positions available to serve behind the bars or sell alcohol tickets to patrons, providing all your RSA credentials are in place. You will be relied upon for great service, while giving a smile. Please indicate in the Work Experience box that you have your RSA and /or had cashier experience.
Cashier / Box Office
We are looking for people with cash register experience to sell festival tickets, swap tickets for wristbands and direct patrons if necessary. This position is for people who can work quickly with a smile.
Crowd / Area Control
These positions will be at different gates and thorough-fares throughout the venue. Crowd control will check patrons to ensure they are adorned with the correct wristbands for that area before they move into another area. We are looking for people that pay attention to detail.
Friendly Merchandise crew will need to have retail and some cashier experience. These people will be selling customers Festival Merchandise, Artists CD’s. Artist signing will also take place here.
Stage Managing / Assisting
Staging Crew will be supplying high quality service to ensure bands are on stage at right time, and well looked after. It is preferable that this position has had some experience with stage management, events management or theatrical endeavours. This person will need to be highly organized.
Accounts / Payroll
Assist with cashier floats, bookkeeping and or payroll. Must be able to show experience and responsibility in these roles.
General Festival Duties
Assist with keeping the grounds clean and to uphold the recycling policy of the festival. May be utilized to move equipment and boxes. This would need to indicate if they are able to assist with light lifting duties.
