Legendary Blues & Soul band, The Mighty Reapers, recently re-grouped under the new name of Continental Robert and the Trouble People, following the passing of long-time member and bass player Vito Portolesi. As a mark of respect for Vito, the remaining Mighty Reapers members have decided to not play again under the Reapers band name.

The new band, Continental Robert and the Trouble People, featuring the existing members of the Reapers, ‘Continental’ Robert Susz (vocals, harmonica), Dave Brewer (guitar, vocals), Clayton Doley (keyboards), & Antero Ceschin (drums), plus new member Jonathon Zwartz on double bass.

Continental Robert and Dave Brewer’s partnership goes back many years, to the 1970’s when Robert joined Dave’s Perth band, The Elks, and later Dave became a member of Continental Robert’s  nationally renowned soul band, the Dynamic Hepnotics, through the 1980’s. Clayton Doley is a monster keyboard player and fronts his own band on many occasions. Jonathon Zwartz has become one of the leading Jazz double bass players, but cut his teeth on soul music way back! Antero Ceschin, is one of Sydney’s most solid drummers.

Having moved to home town Perth in 2000, Dave Brewer normally visits Sydney once a year only, So the appearance of Continental Robert and the Trouble People’s at the 2020 Girrakool Blues Festival presents a rare opportunity to catch this sensational band!

Each band member is a legend of blues and soul music, and together, this is one act not to be missed!
