Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ is held in the Mt Penang Event Park Kariong, on the Central Coast NSW, situated conveniently between Newcastle and Sydney, and only a 2 minute drive from the M1 Motorway. It is also just short trip from either the Woy Woy (15 mins) or Gosfords (10 Mins ) Train Station. For directions click here!
There are various ticket types, Season, multi and single day options:
- Adults (over 18)
- Youth (13 – 17 yrs)
- Children (6 – 12yrs)
- Buddy ( 4 x Adults)
Children under 5 years of age are free. And Children under 12 years are free on Sunday.
As the festival is licensed all minors under 18 years must be accompanied into the event, and be supervised at all times within the festival site, by a responsible adult in accord with the Liquor Act.

Girrakool Blues Festival accepts Companion Cards by offering disabled patrons holding a current companion card a second ticket for their accompanying companion at no charge. Please Purchase your ticket and bring your companion Card to get your complementary ticket.
Please choose carefully, Girrakool Blues Festival & BBQ do not give refunds on tickets. There will also be no refunds made on tickets if you choose not to attend due to inclement weather, or change of mind. These are set out in the Festival Terms and Conditions

Fees and Charges
All prices are exclusive of Credit Card Fees – Credit card fees of 2% will be added to your ticket under the book fee item.
Getting to Girrakool
Whether coming by Car, Bus or Train Mt Penang Event Park is very easily accessible. Girrakool Blues Festival will be providing buses from the Umina/ Woy Woy Peninsula to the festival site, via Gosford Train Station. For more information click here!
Gate Opening Times
- Friday – Gates open 5pm for 6pm start with a Welcome to Country. Music will continue to Midnight.
- Saturday – Gates open 10am with Music from Midday to Midnight.
- Sunday 4th March – Gates open from 10am to7pm for all things BBQ, with local Bands, demonstrations & kids activities.
*For anyone camping on Sunday- a movie will be held from 8pm – more info coming soon!
Artist Program / Schedule
The Artist program and schedule will be finalised and made public in January 2019. To make sure you’re the first to know please subscribe to our mailing list here.
Camping will be available each night of the event and will be free with your corresponding festival ticket. (ie Season ticket holders can camp all 3 nights, 2 day Fri & Sat ticket holders can only camp Friday and Saturday Night, and Saturday night ticket holders can only camp Saturday night.)
*However – Sunday Only Tickets will not be able to camp*
You must indicate if you wish to camp, when purchasing your tickets, otherwise we cannot guarantee a site. We ask this so we can make sure that no one misses out and so we are aware of how much space may be needed.
We welcome tents, and caravans.

Working or Volunteering
Girrakool Blues Festival would not survive if it wasn’t for it’s dedicated “Blues Crew”. We welcome everyone to join our ever growing community of volunteers. There are many roles that need filling, no experience necessary. Please apply here.

There will be 3 sets of toilets, 2 within the festival site and another block in the camping area. All toilets are marked out on the Program and map. If you have any troubles please see one of our many volunteers in red “Blues Crew” shirts to assist you.
The will ATMs located on the festival site should you need extra cash. The ATM is marked on the Program and Map. If you have any troubles please see one of our many volunteers in red “Blues Crew” shires to assist you.
What to bring
- ID for Adults
- Sunscreen & hats
- Portable Chairs and Picnic Rugs (no elaborate set-up please)
What not to bring
- The venue is licensed and there will be no alcohol taken into or out of the venue.
- No illegal items
There will be plenty of food available through the food stalls, many of whom are from the Central Coast. Please support our local businesses as they support us.
Please be respectful of other guests.
Please also be respectful of the residence of Mt Penang Gardens & Parklands by keeping noise to a minimum when entering and exiting the festival.

Girrakool Blues Festival and BBQ is a licensed venue. Under the Liquor Act, NSW, drinking your own alcohol is strictly forbidden. Security will be checking for any alcohol as you come through the gates. Anyone who is drinking their own alcohol, or is intoxicated will be asked the leave the festival site and may not be allowed to re-enter the until the following event day.
Girrakool Blues Festival is situated on flat piece of land within the parkland, and is easily accessible to our disabled patrons including those in wheel chairs.
Disabled parking is located opposite the main gate, however you can also drop off any patrons first prior to parking if necessary.
There is plenty of parking on site at Mt Penang Event Park. Cars can enter through gate 2 from Kangoo Rd and will assisted to parking by our volunteers.
